Built by the present owner’s ancestors in 1842, it is still run more like a private country house than as a hotel. As such, the tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking relaxing days in a true Irish country house.

Currarevagh (pronounced "Curra-reeva") still retains the atmosphere of a bygone age where the emphasis is on hospitality and service. It is run along the lines of a private country house rather than as an impersonal hotel and, while extremely comfortable, it is not pretentious. The tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking a relaxing few days enjoying our house and grounds, or exploring the beauty of Lough Corrib, Connemara, Galway and beyond.

Our rooms are individually styled and offer exclusive use of 3 comfortable sitting rooms. There, you can relax beside open turf fires, enjoy the breathtaking view, browse our many bookshelves or quietly snooze to the sound of silence.

With a cuisine based on fresh, local produce, Currarevagh House has gained many accolades in the better known hotel and food guides, as well as the international press.

Breakfast is a lavish feast, complete with freshly squeezed juice, full Irish breakfast.

Afternoon tea, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm includes a selection of teas served in the drawing room, along with different types of cake, finger sandwiches and seasonal specialties.

Each evening, a 4-course dinner is served. The focus is on classically simple menus based on fresh, local produce. The menu changes daily to reflect the seasons and what is available. Main courses are silver-served by ever-friendly staff so you may take as much as you want.

Currarevagh House is fully-licensed to sell wines, spirits and beers to residents. The unique hatch bar features a well-selected wine list with vintage ports, many varieties of whiskeys and a full array of spirits. Cocktails can be prepared upon request, and we have over 60 bins of well-chosen wines.
